ESRI is pleased to announce the release of ArcGIS
9.0.1. This release represents the latest version of ESRI's
integrated collection of GIS software products for building a complete
GIS for organizations. With the release of ArcGIS 9.0.1, ESRI extends
the supported platforms for ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Engine, and ArcIMS
ArcMap Server from Windows-based operating systems to the Linux
and Solaris platforms. ArcGIS 9.0.1 also updates the ArcIMS Web
Map Service (WMS) Connector.
Highlights of the release include:
- ArcGIS Engine Developer Kit and ArcGIS Engine
Runtime - ArcGIS Engine now supports Red Hat Enterprise
Linux AS/ES/WS 3.0, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9, as well as
Sun Microsystems' Solaris 8 and 9. ArcGIS Engine is a developer
product for creating custom GIS desktop applications. For more

- ArcGIS Server - ArcGIS Server
now supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 3.0, SUSE Linux Enterprise
Server 9, and Solaris 8 and 9. ArcGIS Server is a comprehensive
platform for delivering enterprise GIS applications that are centrally

- ArcIMS - ArcIMS now supports ArcIMS
ArcMap Server on Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 3.0, SUSE Linux
Enterprise Server 9, and Solaris 8 and 9. In addition, ArcIMS
9.0.1 includes an updated WMS Connector. The WMS Connector is
a Java Web Application that provides an Open Geospatial Consortium(OGC)-standard
WMS interface to data served by image and ArcMap image services.
The WMS Connector has passed all OGC compliancy tests for WMS
services. The connector comes with a Web-based administration
tool. The expanded ArcIMS documentation provides comprehensive
instructions for administering a WMS site. ArcIMS is the solution
for delivering dynamic maps and GIS data and services via the
