ERDAS IMAGINE 8.7 Service Pack 2 is now available (1st May, 2005)

ESRI China (HK) is pleased to announced that ERDAS IMAGINE 8.7 Service Pack 2 is now available to download from Leica's website, please click here to download the service pack.

ERDAS IMAGINE 8.7 Service Pack 2 must be installed over an existing ERDAS IMAGINE 8.7 installation. It does not require Service Pack 1 (SP1) to have been installed, but can be installed over the top of SP1 if it is already present.

The followings are new key features and benefits of ERDAS IMAGINE 8.7 Service Pack 2, details can be found in the Release Note.

Improved JPEG 2000 encoding

  • Handling of much larger input files and better image quality retention through the use of extensive user-definable encoding options
Resolution Merge / Pan Sharpening
  • Modified IHS technique provides a robust, multi-layer merge technique
  • Adjusts according to the relative wavelengths of the input images in order to retain the radiometric characteristics of the original multispectral scene
Research & Negation Tools
  • Blend, Swipe and Flicker tools now work on any selected layers from the layer stack
  • Visually analyze multiple data layers, such as time series imagery, using new animation options for the Blend, Swipe and Flicker tools
Geospatial Light Table (GLT) Improvements
  • A streamlined interface based on user feedback
  • Dedicated "Overview" linked window with limited tools
  • Lock rotation angles of GLT with "Overview"
  • User-definable DRA clipping parameters
  • Independently reset zoom ratio or rotation
  • Thumbwheel sliders to provide feedback on extent of effects
New Geometric Models
  • Direct Linear Transform (DLT)
  • Orthorectify aerial imagery where no interior orientation is available
  • Projective Transform
  • Orthorectify satellite imagery where no ephemeris is available, isn't supported by other models, or which has already been geometrically corrected
