To encourage you to migrate to ArcView 8, ESRI China (HK) is glad to offer a one-year grace period to all maintenance subscribers. You can install ArcView 8.x in the same machine where you installed ArcView 3.x for a period of one year, starting from the date of ArcView 8.x license issuance. What you are not allowed to do is double up on the license by installing ArcView 3.x for Windows on one machine and ArcView 8.x Single Use on another machine.

ArcView 3.x for UNIX users are allowed to run existing version of ArcView on UNIX machine in parallel with ArcView 8.x since ArcView 8.x runs only on Windows; however, you can only run either license at one time within this one-year grace period.

After one year, all users will have to sign the ESRI China (HK) Certification of Destruction, certifying that you have destroyed and discontinued use of ArcView 3.x license.

Meanwhile, users will only receive ArcView 8.x upgrade package unless you confirmed with us that your system must maintain in ArcView 3.x.

The above policy is effective to our users whose ArcView 3.x was purchased on or before 31 July 2001. Any users who placed their order for ArcView 3.2a from August 2001 onwards, within your maintenance period, you will receive ArcView 3.2a's upgrade (e.g. ArcView 3.3) instead of ArcView 8.1's. Yet, you can choose to purchase ArcView 8.1 now at the same price. The same applies to ArcView 3.2a's extensions, like Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst.
